What is the Electronic Visa on Arrival (eVOA)?

The Electronic Visa on Arrival — commonly called eVOA or e-VOA — is Indonesia’s digital version of the traditional Visa on Arrival. Launched to reduce airport congestion and modernize the entry process, the eVOA allows you to complete your visa application and payment online before you even board your flight to Bali. The result is a QR code that you present at immigration, bypassing the VOA payment counter entirely.

The eVOA is functionally identical to the standard Visa on Arrival — same 30-day duration, same extension options, same eligible countries. The only difference is the application method and the small convenience fee charged by the online platform. For travelers arriving during peak season (July-August, December-January), the eVOA can save you 30-60 minutes of queuing at the airport.

Since the IMI-417 regulation update in May 2025, the eVOA system has been integrated with Indonesia’s new M-Paspor digital immigration platform, making the process even smoother. Travelers can now link their eVOA to their digital arrival card, completing all formalities before landing in Bali.

How to Apply for eVOA Online — Step by Step

Step 1: Visit the official portal — Go to molina.imigrasi.go.id. This is the ONLY official Indonesian immigration portal for eVOA applications. Beware of third-party websites charging inflated fees.

Step 2: Create an account — Register with your email address and create a password. You will receive a verification email to activate your account.

Step 3: Fill in the application form — Enter your passport details, travel dates, accommodation address in Bali, and emergency contact information. Ensure all information matches your passport exactly.

Step 4: Upload required documents — You will need a color scan/photo of your passport bio page, a recent passport-sized photo (white background), and proof of return/onward travel within 30 days.

Step 5: Pay the fee — IDR 500,000 visa fee + ~IDR 50,000 service fee. Payment accepted via credit/debit card (Visa, Mastercard) and some Indonesian bank transfers.

Step 6: Receive your eVOA — Processing typically takes 1-24 hours. You will receive an email with your eVOA approval letter containing a QR code. Download and save this to your phone.

Step 7: Arrive in Bali — At Ngurah Rai Airport, go directly to the immigration queue (skip the VOA payment counter). Show your eVOA QR code and passport to the immigration officer.

eVOA Requirements 2026

The requirements for the eVOA are the same as the standard VOA: a passport valid for at least 6 months, proof of onward travel, and sufficient funds for your stay. Additionally, you will need a digital copy of your passport photo page and a recent passport photograph for the online application. The Bali tourist levy (IDR 150,000) is separate and must be paid through the Love Bali portal.
